Korzinka team tops 10 000

Life of Korzinka

November 23, 2023

23.11.2023, Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Korzinka’s employees are the foundation of the company’s success, helping the business to be the locomotive of the country's retail trade.

Elmira Dzhurabekova a trainee cashier, became the 10,000th employee of Korzinka, the largest retail chain in Uzbekistan.

How it all began

The first eight employees joined the team when the first store opened its doors - in 1997 and in just eight years, following the opening of new outlets, the team passed 2,000 members in 2016.

Since then, development accelerated and in the following six years the number of employees increased five times.

A 2020 agreement, which saw the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development come on board as a shareholder – was not just an historic event for the retail sector in Uzbekistan, but also allowed the company to enter an era of rapid growth.

The chain has now surpassed the 100 store mark, opened in 12 of the 14 regions of the country and now has more than 10,000 employees.

Korzinka operates several different formats: supermarkets, two convenience store formats, Smart and Korzinka Mahalla, a wholesale store, Korzinka Biznes, and an online supermarket service, Korzinka Go, with two dark stores.

To service this ever-growing operation, five distribution centres and one refrigerated warehouse complex are now operating successfully.

To staff these facilities, the company has recruited the best local and foreign specialists, and constantly strives to offer the very best working conditions.

Indeed, over the years the retailer has repeatedly received the “Best Employer” award and a number of other awards in the field of personnel management from Headhunter, Davinci and EMBRAS.

Investing in people is the key to success

From the very first days of operation, Korzinka has focused on providing impeccable service and high-quality products.

Both of these goals depend on our people, so the company annually invests in the development of its employees across all sectors of the business.

The company has its own training centre, which, every year every year on average, trains over 4,000 employees, developing both soft and hard skills, making sure that it has qualified personnel who are constantly improving the services that Korzinka offers its customers.

In addition, Korzinka supports its employees to study in higher education. This year, the company helped pay for higher education courses for 1,107 employees and members of their families, at institutions in Uzbekistan.

“Our success is the result of the hard work of our large team. We have managed to unite a team of truly talented and dedicated professionals. Sincere care, fair treatment for everyone, encouraging high achievement and sharing our values are the foundation stone of the loyalty of our employees, who help Korzinka become better and better every day,” – said Zafar Khashimov, Founder and Chairman of Supervisory Board of Korzinka supermarket chain.
